In our previous post, What the Music Business’ Evolution May Tell Us About The Future of Games, we presented a paper on the history of the video game and music industries and their parallel evolutions. It was a quite lot of words and we got a few requests for a slightly more visual summary of not only the historical information but also what predictions we are drawing from this work.

We assigned each stage of the evolution a “theme” that we feel fits both industries and provided a summary of the major events of the era. Even though the modern music industry had a 20 year head-start, we now see that the industries are almost in sync present-day. We believe this synchronization is due to the influence of technology over both.

Macro Video Game Industry Predictions
There is a lot of money at play here and major players could still influence the path that we are on currently. Only time will tell but we will be keeping a close eye on the macro developments and plan to update our predictions if major shifts arise.
